4. Run 4 Kerri: Sunday, August 7th, this scenic 4 miler will take you through Matunuck. This race is in honor of Kerri Lynn Bessette:
“The Run 4 Kerri is a nonprofit charity organization that was developed to raise funds to sponsor a variety of charitable endeavors. The race was created to preserve the memory of the late Kerri Lynn Bessette who passed away at 19 years old in April 2001. Kerri succumb to complications resulting from bacterial meningitis while a freshman student and athlete at LaSalle University in Philadelphia.”

5. Mad Hatter Soiree- Join the Association of Migraine Disorders for its second annual Mad Hatter Soirée on Sunday, August 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. and experience Rhode Island’s waterfront “Wonderland” without having to tumble down any mysterious rabbit holes with Alice. The fundraising event – in support of the nonprofit’s interdisciplinary program devoted to migraine pathophysiology research – will be held at the scenic Fort Adams State Park in Newport. The event will feature an “Alice in Wonderland” themed cocktail party with informal lawn games – including croquet and a nine-hole putting course – as well as a sit-down dinner catered by Russell Morin and music and dancing overlooking Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor. The event will be held rain or shine and is open to the public.
