Laid-back Fitness Hosts Seventh Annual Frozen Clam Dip and Obstaplunge to Benefit MENTOR Rhode Island

Local partnership offers an adventurous start to the New Year
with obstacle course and traditional plunge opportunities

On Monday, Jan. 1, Warwick-based fitness organization Laid-back Fitness will host the seventh annual Frozen Clam Dip and Obstaplunge — the world’s only New Year’s Day plunge featuring an obstacle course — at Goddard Memorial State Park Beach. All proceeds from the event will benefit MENTOR Rhode Island, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the expansion of quality mentoring services for Rhode Island youth.

Suitable for all ages, the event provides both a traditional plunge into Narragansett Bay and a half-mile American Ninja Warrior style shoreline obstacle course that precedes the chilly dip.

Laid-back Fitness and MENTOR Rhode Island will co-host the event. Laid-back Fitness will provide course options featuring obstacles from their Warwick-based fitness company. All proceeds will benefit the MENTOR Rhode Island.

BoldrDash, Rhode Island’s premier obstacle course, will provide an additional obstacle from their event series as part of the Obstaplunge.

Local organizations, including Funny 4 Funds and a live DJ will provide entertainment.

Various New England organizations will sponsor the event. For event updates, visit the Facebook event page here.
