Greenwich Odeum – The Small Theater With The Big Shows!

From vintage movie cinemas to historic performing art venues, Rhode Island has a diverse assortment of theaters that feature premier concerts, plays, films and more. One such venue is the Greenwich Odeum located in East Greenwich, RI. For the last 90 years, the Greenwich Odeum (originally the Greenwich Theatre) has stood proudly as an arts and entertainment venue.

Built in 1926, the historic theater is situated on a quaint Main Street, with over a dozen restaurants, pubs and shops within walking distance for pre and post-show activities. The 400-plus capacity theater does not have a bad seat in the house making it the perfect venue to enjoy your favorite artist or show up close and personal.

The Greenwich Odeum has a reputation for attracting some of the best talent to tour through the Ocean State. Performing artists appreciate the theater’s intimate atmosphere, outstanding acoustics, spacious stage and enthusiastic patrons. It is for this reason that so many national touring artists select the Greenwich Odeum as their venue of choice when visiting Rhode Island.

Entertainers who have headlined at the Greenwich Odeum during the 2023 season to date include Southside Johnny, Soul Asylum, Joan Osbourne, The Wallflowers, Pure Prairie League, Debbie Gibson, Andy Summers, Lita Ford, Paula Poundstone, Pam Tillis, Macy Gray, Al Stewart, Colin Quinn, Amy Grant and many more.

The 2023 Fall / Winter show line up at the Greenwich Odeum has much to offer with exciting concerts, comedy and holiday events. November show highlights include The Squirrel Nut Zipper’s “Jazz from the Back O’ Town Show”, ska legends/pioneers The English Beat, soulful singer/songwriter Marc Cohen, comedian Maria Bramford and the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at the Greenwich Odeum in December with Billy Gillman’s – Home for The Holidays Show and Christmas with The Celts performing timeless ancient Irish Christmas Carols with lively Irish dance with Irish instrumentation. Plus, concerts by The Fixx, The Tubes, Martin Sexton, comedian Pete Correale and acappella superstars – Rockapella performing at the Greenwich Odeum in December!

A new addition to the Greenwich Odeum’s entertainment offerings is the “Upstairs at The Odeum” jazz nights starting on November 15^th and returning each third Wednesday of the month. Kick back and unwind during an intimate evening of great music performed by local artists in the Odeum balcony lounge from 7:30 – 9:30pm.

• The Tubes formed in 1972 in San Francisco from two bands that moved there from Phoenix, The Beans along with the Red, White and Blues Band. While musically influenced by groups like Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart, who actually recorded a song with the group on their third album, their theatrical satire was evident from the very beginning. All these years later, The Tubes still consists of, original members, the irrepressible front man Fee Waybill, world-class drummer Prairie Prince, and virtuoso guitarist Roger Steen. They continue to delight fans across the country and around the world with their iconic live shows.
• Led by singer Fee Waybill – known for his classic characters, including the glam-rocking, stackheeled Quay Lewd, the dangerous Mr. Hate or the gnarly punk parody Johnny Bugger – The Tubes released five albums on A&M Records, starting with the Al Kooper-produced self- titled debut in 1975, which included “White Punks on Dope,” dubbed an absurd anthem of wretched excess” later covered by Motley Crue, German chanteuse Nina Hagen as well as set staple, “Mondo Bondage.” “What Do You Want from Life?” was yet another signature song for the band, a prescient satire of consumerism and celebrity culture that calls out Bob Dylan and Randy Mantooth along with “a herd of Winnebagos, we’re givin’ em away”. With the help of Kenny Ortega, they mounted the stage show for which they’re still known, using videos as part of the presentation long before MTV was born.

• Pete has performed on numerous late night tv shows such as The Tonight Show, Letterman and Conan. as well as filming three of his own one hour television comedy specials, THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE, LET ME TELL YA and the last being on FOR PETE’S SAKE. He has also released two comedy albums, GIVE IT A REST and MADE FOR RADIO.
• Pete is also the co-host of The Pete and Sebastian show, a podcast with comedian and longtime friend Sebastian Maniscalco. The Pete and Sebastian Show is one of the most wildly popular comedy podcasts on air today. The show is almost 10 years running with an ever growing fanbase and has featured guests to the likes of Bill Burr, Jay Mohr, Bobby Lee, Yannis Pappas, Billy Gardell and more!
• Aside from his podcast, Pete has been a staff writer on several tv shows, most recently Kevin Can Wait on CBS as well as The Crew on Netflix. In addition to his past writing accomplishments, Pete is also the co-creator and showrunner for an upcoming half hour comedy series titled ‘FLAGRANT’ starring Michael Rappaport.
