Rise & Play: Sensory-Friendly Mornings in Our Big Backyard

Tuesday, November 6 | 9:00 – 10:00 AM

Join us for an hour of nature play before the zoo opens: designed for families who have a child with sensory sensitivities, come and play in Hasbro’s Our Big Backyard. Build mud pies, watch boats float downstream and climb high in a tree-house. Limited to 70 participants, this hour will allow you and your family to spend time playing in nature, in a smaller group of guests.

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

Now – Sunday, November 4

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, presented by Citizens Bank, at Roger Williams Park Zoo is celebrating 30 years of Halloween magic now – November 4.Called EXTRAORDINARY by both CNN and USA Today, this year’s show includes more than 5,000 intricately carved pumpkins featuring scenes of wizards, fairytales, and the luminaries of great myths and legends, alongside superheroes, and historical figures who changed our world. Sensory-Friendly Nights at the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

Thursday, November 1 – Sunday, November 4 | 5:00 – 6:00 PM

Join the Zoo for a special sensory-friendly Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular an hour before the trail opens to the public: designed those with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences and their families. For maximum enjoyment, the over 5000 pumpkins will light up the Zoo’s Wetlands Trail, but there will be no music or special effects. This year’s highlights include intricately carved pumpkins with scenes from fairy tales, a focus on Boston sports greats, a spotlight on friends from the wizarding world and super heroes as well as highlights from a variety of favorite books, movies, and video games.

Price: Tickets are available for purchase in person ONLY at the Zoo’s admissions booth. ($15/adults; $12/children ages 2-12; Free/children one and under)

Zoo-Cation Day Camp

Tuesday, November 6 & Monday, November 12 | 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

A day off from school does not have to mean a day off from learning, exploring, and making friends! These one-day camps will engage campers in a full day of crafts, hands-on and inquiry-driven activities, encounters with wild animal ambassadors, and a tour of the Zoo where each camper will get a chance to fee the goats in the ALEX AND ANI Farmyard.

Visit with Santa at Carousel Village

Friday, November 23 – Sunday, November 25 | 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Visit with Santa, then enjoy a ride on the historic Carousel or play the day away in the fully accessible outdoor Hasbro Boundless Playground open daily all year.  And don’t forget to bring your camera!

Faces of the Rainforest Grand Opening

Thursday, November 29

Roger Williams Park Zoo will officially open its eagerly awaited exhibit – Faces of the Rainforest – on Thursday, November 29. There will be a 9:30 am press conference and ribbon cutting prior to the public opening. Additionally, on Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2, MEMBERS ONLY will have the opportunity to see the rainforest from 9:00 – 10:00 am before the Zoo opens to the public at 10:00 am. All press are invited to the event at 9:30 am, and will have the opportunity to take a tour of the exhibit, and speak with Dr. Jeremy Goodman and others regarding the flora and fauna, outdoor interactive exhibits, and artwork that makes the Zoo’s newest addition so exciting.
