Live Theater in September brings some big names to Rhode Island!

- Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show, so they take over the school auditorium, which is currently set up for the eighth grade production of “Grease.” Here we meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; a streetwise nun from Brooklyn named Sister Robert Anne; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia, the nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. With more than 5000 productions worldwide, it has been translated into 21 languages!

Frankie Valli was Michael Panarello’s favorite Singer since he was “seven or eight years old,” when Panarello first heard the powerful falsetto voice of Francesco Stephen Castelluccio, better known as Frankie Valli. Panarello spent hours in his family’s home, listening to records from the singer and his famous group, The Four Seasons along with learning the mannerisms and smooth moves of Frankie Valli.
He knew he’d be singing those tunes soon enough and on a stage. Michael honed his talents and voice to be an amazing likeness to Frankie Valli. - Hasan Minhaj is a two-time Peabody Award-Winning comedian known for his breakout special HOMECOMING KING (NETFLIX) and his critically acclaimed, political satire show PATRIOT ACT WITH HASAN MINHAJ (NETFLIX) which won a Peabody, an Emmy, and a Television Academy Honor. His second one-hour comedy special THE KING’S JESTER premiered on Netflix in October 2022.
- Hasan was a senior correspondent at THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART (COMEDY CENTRAL) and headlined the 2017 WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS’ DINNER. Cap always knew he was destined to be a comedian, and so in 1999 he left Ohio and moved to Los Angeles where he got a job working the door at The World Famous Comedy Store. After nearly 4 years of struggling for stage time, cutting grass at a local golf course and rethinking life choices, he started catching a few breaks. Cap was invited to the 2003 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and shortly thereafter was featured on the “Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Next Generation”. Over the next several years he would make multiple appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”.
- Cap found mainstream success when he appeared over 150 times as a panelist on Chelsea Handler’s popular E! show, “Chelsea Lately,” during its 7-year run. Cap has two comedy specials: “John Caparulo: Meet Cap,” which premiered on Comedy Central in 2008 and “John Caparulo: Come Inside Me,” which launched on Netflix in 2013. - Christopher Cross burst onto the music scene with his 1980 self-titled debut album, winning five Grammy Awards, including—for the first time in Grammy history—the “Big Four” most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also “Sailing”), and Best New Artist.
- In a career spanning more than four decades, Cross has sold over 10 million albums. His music has garnered five Grammys, an Oscar, a Golden Globe, an Emmy nomination and five Top 10 singles.
- Within a year of the first album’s release, Cross joined music royalty Burt Bacharach to write “Arthur’s Theme,” for the movie Arthur, which won an Academy Award for Best Song. With his 1983 release, Another Page, Cross was again in the Top 10 with the singles “All Right” and “Think of Laura.” His song, “Swept Away,” composed for the hit television series, Growing Pains, was nominated for an Emmy.
- Cross started his own label and, since 2007, has released 8 albums of new material, including A Christopher Cross Christmas and The Café Carlyle Sessions, jazz treatments of hits and favorites born out of a residency at the famous Hotel Carlyle in New York City. Take Me as I Am, released in 2018, features richly-crafted melodies and elegant guitar work. The latest project for Christopher Cross Records is aptly titled The Complete Works. - All in all, it’s been quite a ride, one that has taken Cross from his early days in Texas where he once served as a drum tech for Ginger Baker, bought gear from Jimmy Page, and played lead guitar for Deep Purple on a night when Ritchie Blackmore fell ill, to this place as a respected singer-songwriter-guitar player who continues to share his original music with the world.
