Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s time for the creepy crawlies to come out of the woodwork. Rhode Island has more than its fair share of ghost tours, haunted forests, and scary fun for the whole family. Take a look at these thirteen spooky activities you can find throughout our great state this Halloween season.
No Halloween would be complete without a visit to the Field of Screams in West Greenwich. With three uniquely terrifying attractions, there’s plenty of reason to make a return trip if you manage to make it through on your first attempt. The Dungeon of Doom, the Dead River Haunted Hayride, and the 4D Cirque Du Souls, a maze where you wear 3-D glasses, are each enough to scare you out of your wits. New this year is an apocalyptic treat: Zombie Paintball. Adventure with your friends to see if you can make it through this zombie disaster and come out on the other side.
A truly frightening night can be found on Haunted Hill in Cumberland, RI. This walk through the woods features monsters, killers, and maniacs who are set on making you jump out of your shoes. This nonprofit group has been scaring brave souls for over a decade. Definitely not for the weak of heart, you should be sure to keep your eyes peeled on this terrifying journey.
It’s the 20th year of Trails To Terror, and the Highland Farms crew plans to make it the best year ever! As always, “Delamorte’s Haunted Hayride” features 30 minutes of eye-popping, scream-inducing scares. The Haunted Hayride, this year with never before seen spooks and scares, is accompanied by the Forest of Fear walkthrough.

A: Maybe. We take our job seriously but it’s all in fun. You must gauge what your own child’s reaction might be but thousands of children of all ages have enjoyed our shows for years.

This fearful building has a number of different activities for you to enjoy and be frightened by. Mission Combat Laser Tag is a superb activity for any group, but around Halloween the biggest pull is the Factory of Terror itself. Filled with monsters, machines, and the most terrifying of nightmares, I hope you make it through the Factory of Terror without being driven out of your mind with fright.
Located in Historic Fort Adams, the Fortress of Nightmares transforms this National Historic Landmark into four different Halloween activities all in the same location. There’s the horrific maze of the Tunnels of Terror, the 3-D glasses enhanced Mayhem 3D, Ghostly activity is documented in Paranormal, or you could see if you and your friends are able to survive Turned! A Zombie Experience’s laser tag zombie event.
The longest running haunted house in RI, the Haunted Labyrinth in Cranston is sure to find your deepest fears. With this year’s Cirque D’Horreur, the Greatest Scare on Earth, you will run into some of the most terrifying clowns that have every put on a red nose. In their 32nd year, the volunteers at Haunted Labyrinth know what they’re doing: Scaring you.
The Haunted Tunnel is broken down into two sections: A 200ft concrete tunnel is host to nine rooms, each individually themed around various fears, and a large outdoor path includes an industrial corn maze, Pumpkin patch, and Cemetery for you to cautiously walk through. If you decide to enter the Tunnel, you’ll want to wear sneakers, as you may have to run for your life!
It’s the third year for this haunted hayride and, just like every year, there will be new sites along with several fan favorites returning. The ride winds through 21 acres of wooded trails with twists and turns; you’ll never know what’s awaiting you around the bend. Enjoy this newcomer on the frightening forest scene this year, and watch as they continue to grow and impress.
Scary Acres wants to know: Do you hear it? Zombies Feeding. Beasts Ratting Their Cages. Chainsaws Revving. Well, do you? This frightening haunt includes a terrifying hayride which leads you to their 5-acre corn maze filled with different themed adventures. They’d love to hear what you think about their ride at the end, assuming you’re not to terrified to speak!
Who haunts George Washington’s Revolutionary War headquarters? Was Lizzie Borden acting on her own accord… or just following in her family footsteps? Why do people continue to hear a mysterious drum beat as they walk the bricks of Blood Alley? What are the strange winged skulls crowning the tombstones of New England’s dead? If you’re looking for ghosts, the East Side of Providence will provide the specters you’re looking for.
