Okay folks, I am sure some of you are already making the list in your heads of all the wonderful things about T Swift and why she suits Rhode Island so perfectly. No doubt, there are definitely some huge benefits to having such a pop star residing in our little state.  By saying “such a pop star”, I do mean Taylor in particular.  Most pop stars could not complement our state the way Taylor does.  So, without further adieu:

5 Reasons Taylor Swift is Good For Rhode Island!

1.  She helps local businesses!  If you have not already caught on, everyone wants to know where in Rhode ellasIsland a celebrity might eat, drink, shop and so on.  That being said, Taylor harnesses a unique power to create a buzz about our local businesses that she frequents.  Whether she is shopping for clothes or sampling some delicious food, we will all know about it.   I am sure Ella’s Fine Food and Drink felt a surge in their cooking classes after Taylor was a studious culinary student there!

2.  She Cares! Taylor has made quite a few guest appearances at our local children’s hospital.  The perspective that one must consider is the feelings of the children who got the chance to see her.  Some kids  wait a lifetime and never have this opportunity.  No matter how you look at it, such a visits mean the world to those little hearts out there.

3.  She Has Class!  It is no secret that Social Media can be flooded with a celebrity’s latest blunder.  From excessive partying to racy videos and everything in between,  there is no hiding from the media.  Somehow, Taylor has managed to keep her face on the bright side of the news and remains a class act.

4.She Appreciates Rhode Island’s Beauty!  Of course she does…she moved here!  She could have chosen anywhere else in the entire world to live, yet she chose here!  Those of usWaterfront Restaurants in RI Matunuck Oyster Bar who have lived here for most of our lives know exactly why she did.  It has unequivocal beauty and a unique sense of community (which is why we tend to be tough on outsiders).  And, now that Taylor Swift lives here, I bet less people think Rhode Island is an island off of New York!

5.  She Inspires!  There is no denying that Taylor Swift is a superstar and that she has an insanely huge following. Her drive and success are inspirational to many and  the fact that she lives here makes it that much more potent for her Rhode Island fan base.

So, thanks Taylor for making Rhode Island your home.  We hope you continue to enjoy all that this little state has to offer.  One of these days you might just find yourself saying, “clamcakes and chowda’ anyone?  They are wicked good!”

  1. Okay, here’s my opinion on Taylor Swift. She moved here and gets local business money to help them she goes to the children’s hospital and inspires all the young cute adorable kids and brightens up their day that is truly amazing to see and read about what she does. But the bad part about what I have to say is, she paid each paying customer at restaurants to leave so she can eat in peace and have no customers taking pictures as she eats, she does not get a permit to build a wall around her home, she wants to buy the public beach/walk way that have been open to the public for so long because she doesn’t want people going by her house and peeking in etc ( I understand she wants privacy but know your surroundings before you go and pay cash for a mansion) she has security 24/7 that even if you walk pass her house you get starred down like a hawk by them there are signs saying no standing or stopping at any time, it’s rediculous how one famous person moves into the smallest state in the US and is like she is queen. I’m sorry but I think this is horrible, correct me if I’m wrong on any of this but I know for a fact I was walking with my son in the stroller and I say look hunny that’s where someone famous lives and he giggled and I get pushed a long and yelled at by a security guy saying keep moving like did I really look like I was going to try and break pass that security guy no like I’m sorry I listen to her music and so doesn’t my son he dances to her music every time it comes on but there was no way that security guy needed to do that. Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to bash her but what i hear and what I witnessed for my self I just thought of her so differently. Maybe things have changed yes they probably did now that she has settled down but like wow you know. Wow.

  2. Yea! What Jess said. I agree 100%

  3. Jess, you have a right to your opinion and i understand what you’re saying, but let me put this in perspective.

Taylor is one of the most famous people in the world. Everything she does is not only seen by millions of people but it is also scrutinized. I don’t blame Taylor at all for wanting some privacy somewhere on this earth. I have never seen any actual proof of Taylor paying people to leave a restaurant or asking people to not take photos with her but I do not blame her at all for that. She deserves some time away from prying eyes so she can spend time with her loved ones.
As for the wall issue, that’s been settled and you know would know that if you looked into the facts:
http://www.thewesterlysun.com/news/latestnews/2882382-129/swifts-wall-being-repaired-at-east-beach.html From what I understand (and I could be wrong) the wall is technically on Taylor’s property but it hasn’t been enforced because no one has lived in Taylor’s house before she moved in for some 20 years.
Taylor also has a right to protect her home. There have been numerous reports of people trying to break-in to Taylor’s home and trespass on her property in Rhode Island. She doesn’t have strict security for no reason.

I’m sure Taylor loves Rhode Island and I’m sure she appreciates the laid-back atmosphere over there, so let’s let the girl have some peace and quiet at some point in her life.

From my position in life……middle class…..I would find it most admirable for Taylor Swift and other entertainers to share their ‘gift’ with communities by improving those areas that are in need. RI needs jobs. It is a beautiful place…fortunate to have the fantastic natural resources. The restaurants and creative class is fantastic…thanks to the university environment. Those are easy! Dig a little deeper…and find the areas, the communities, the towns that need good, sustainable company growth and jobs….then you will impress me! When there are jobs that pay well, there is discretionary spending…able to spend it comfortably on the entertainers…tickets to shows and movies! Mentor the adults and kids to build a sustainable economy!

  5. I just wondering if i live in Rhode Island and feel what Jess felt, i must be sad for what security said but, it’s not about Taylor at all. Sometimes, people being rude and the other one need some privacy, we should take ourself to their position. No need to blame Taylor cause she has done everything good to people, she made them happy and so does she.

  6. Jess, my understanding through DEM in newspaper articles, is that she did not need a permit to repair that wall.
