Artist Spotlight: Allison Paschke

Rhode Island as a whole, and Providence in particular, is a haven for artists of all stripes. Between the many art galleries and artist spaces, and the presence of the Rhode Island School of Design right next to downtown Providence, the city is welcoming of—and inspiring to—many artists in many different mediums. One such artist is Allison Paschke, a Providence artist with a flair for abstract beauty and a strong understanding of the role light plays in art.

Pashke has had numerous exhibits all over the country, but makes her home in Providence. Her pieces have been shown at a number of galleries in the Providence area, including the Chazan Gallery at the Wheeler School, the Candita Clayton Gallery in Pawtucket, and the David Winton Bell Gallery at Brown University.

Allison Pashke is not a single-style artist; rather, she works in a number of different mediums. Her sculptures, particularly her semi-translucent resin sculptures, really capture the light in a way that a painting never could.

In addition to her sculptures, Allison also creates mixed media pieces, custom installations, and a number of beautiful, abstract wall pieces. At first glance, these pieces may seem beautiful yet simple. On further inspection, though, their complexity shows itself.
