The Newport Celtic Rock Festival
Southern New England has always been a haven for both Irish culture and the Irish people. On Saturday, August 23rd, the Newport Celtic Rock Festival will be held at the Newport Yachting Center, and will feature an array of
great Irish music, food, drink, and culture.
Six bands will be playing throughout the day on two separate stages. The festival kicks off with the spirited music of Gaelic Storm, made famous from their performance as the Irish band playing in steerage class in the movie Titanic. They’ll be followed by the celtic rock fusion of The Fighting Jamesons, the Tartan Terrors, Celtica Pipes Rock, Black 47, and Eileen Ivers. If you like Celtic music, from the traditional to the modern, this is the place to be.
There’s more to the festival than the music, however. There will be a great selection of Irish drinks, including Jameson Irish Whiskey and a Guinness “Pour Your Own Pint” event. There will also be an array of Irish foods, such as corned beef sandwiches, and also more traditional American fare.
There will be numerous vendors, selling Celtic jewelry, clothing, and more. It’s a great opportunity to pick up a unique gift, or to grab a keepsake for yourself. You can also get a personalized Guinness pint glass,
The festival will also have kid-friendly activities, including Celtic arts and crafts, face painting, and more.
