Weekend Musts!

If you’ve recovered from the Labor Day weekend, there are a number of great events taking place this upcoming weekend in RI.

On Friday, the Dick Lupino Trio will be performing jazz and other American classics at the Chanler at Cliff Walk. The Chanler is located in Newport, overlooking Easton Bay. The music starts at 6:00 PM.

Also on Friday, Aspire Restaurant in Providence will be hosting Friday Night Jazz, featuring numerous local jazz musicians including Duke Robillard and Dan Moretti, as well as a great cocktail selection. The music starts at 7:30 PM.

Singer-songwriter Michael McDonald and 80’s mainstay Toto will be performing at Twin River Casino in Lincoln this upcoming Friday.

Stand-up comedian Bob Marley will be performing at the Comedy Connection in East Providence on Friday and Saturday. The Comedy Connection is located on Warren Avenue, right off of Route Six.

On Saturday, Roger Williams Park Zoo will be hosting Brew at the Zoo, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. You’ll be able to sample more than one hundred different craft beers. Needless to say, this is a 21+ event.

The Free Family Festival 2014 will be held on Saturday. The festival will feature live music, a petting zoo, and numerous family-friendly activities. It will be held at the Roger Williams National Memorial on North Street in Providence, with free parking at the state house with a complimentary shuttle right to the festival.

The Hera Gallery in Wakefield will be hosting New Visions, a public art exhibition, starting on Saturday and running through October 11th. Stop by from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM for the opening reception.

Finally, on Sunday, legendary American jazz band Steely Dan will be performing at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Weybosset Street.
