Fall Staycations in RI
Sometimes, a vacation abroad can be more hassle than it’s worth. Between babysitters, pet and house sitters, and all the numerous headaches that come along with travel, sometimes it seems easier to stay home. But just because you’re in Rhode
Island doesn’t mean you can’t have a great vacation. Here are some great staycation ideas this fall in Rhode Island.
If you’re looking to get away from it all, and you enjoy the autumn transformation from up close rather than through a car window, camping can make for a nice break from your normal routine. Head out to Burlingame State Campgrounds in Charlestown, or head out to Echo Lake Campgrounds in Burrillville, right by the Pascoag Reservoir.
If you’re just looking to relax, check out one of Rhode Island’s many spas, such as the Butterday Spa on Hope Street in Providence, or the isolated Stillwater Spa on Goat Island in Newport. You’re sure to feel relaxed and re-energized after even an afternoon.
Downtown Newport is particularly beautiful in the fall. Grab a glass of wine or two at Seasons 52, tour one of the many mansions for a taste of the good life, or stop in at the Newport Yacht Club or the Newport Blues Cafe for some live music.
But a lot of people go on vacation to do what they haven’t done, to challenge themselves. If you really want to get a bang for your buck, head over to Skydive Newport or Lincoln Skydiving for a truly amazing experience, and a view that can’t be beat.
Or, if you’re looking for a big event, check out one of the numerous autumn fairs in Rhode Island, like the Pawtucket Arts Festival in September, or the Norman Bird Sanctuary Harvest Fair in October. These are also great events to keep the kids occupied.
