Head straight to the source and enjoy beer tasting in Rhode Island out of the tap at 9 local breweries to visit within an hour drive of anywhere in Lil’ Rhody! Make a day of it, travel your way up or down this beautiful state and enjoy the fruits and hops of our local breweries! Can’t get to all in one day, we will include some of the local watering holes that are currently keeping local brews on tap! Plug the following addresses into your GPS and while away the hours communing with the flowering local breweries of our industrious state! 1. GPS Address: 63 Canal Street, Westerly, RI will bring you to Grey Sail Brewing Company. You can stop by the Brewery every Friday between 4pm & 7pm (other times available too) for growler fills and tours. If you can’t TGIF then you can certainly POETS (plan on everything because tomorrow is saturday/sunday) with a tasting Saturday & Sunday from 1pm – 5pm. For every other day of the week you can belly up to the bar in Malted Barley (42 High Street Westerly RI just down the road from the brewery! 2. GPS Address: 141 Fairgrounds Road West Kingston, RI 02892 will bring you to Proclamation Ale Company. Proclamation is open for growler fills and usually for tastings Friday from 5 – 8 pm and Saturday from 1 – 5 pm., visit their website (http://www.proclamationaleco.com/#!contact/c2q4) for changes week to week or call 401-787-6450. Derivative 6.0% The love child of Proclamation Brewery, invented entirely by the brewers therein! This is a completely one of a kind beer, brewed with methods and ingredients never used before!
Tendril 7.8% Lets the Chinook and Centennial hops do the talking and delights your taste buds with Piney and Fruity citrus flavors like tangerine while delivering a dry finish.
Plattelander 6.9% This farmhouse style Saison is cultivated from local apples and blackberries from the family farm!
3. GPS Address: 1 Helmsley Pl, Exeter, Rhode Island will lead you to the Tilted Barn Brewery, where the best and only way to taste their beer is to stop by the tasting barn open Saturdays for tastings and growlers, visit site for weekly hours.They are very proud to be RI’s first farm brewery and will take you on a tour through their brewery then through their fields to show you just how the local ingredients that go into the beer are sourced. Your tasting pleasures are hand crafted in small batches and served fresh and in season, so visit early and often! 4. GPS Address: 1070 Kingstown Rd South Kingstown, RI, 02879 United States will land you in the heart of Wakefield where you will find Whalers Brewing Company. Currently on Tap and available for Tastings and growler fill hours Friday: 4 – 8pm, Saturday 1 – 5 pm & Sunday: 1 – 5 pm.
Hazelnut Cream Stout (ABV 6.5%) One of their flagship ales, expect roasted – creamy – hazelnut fresh brewed coffee added prior to kegging deliciousness.
American Strong Ale (ABV 9.5%) The second of their flagship ales offers us a malty hop heavy complex beer that is surprisingly easy to drink!
Ginger Wheat (ABV 6.5%) Spicy, crisp and refreshing!

5. Head North on 1A out of Narragansett and plug in GPS Address: 293 Jt Connell Hwy Newport, RI (401) 849-5232, (http://www.newportstorm.com/visit.php) to visit Newport Storm Brewery. They are open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday: 12-5pm and Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 12-6pm and offer guided tours daily at 3pm, they are closed to the public every Tuesday. During open hours indulge in a tasting of Newport Storms classic & seasonal brews and/or their Thomas Tew Single Barrel Rum. Beer tastings are $7.50 and include samples of four year round, seasonal or experimental varieties, a souvenir tasting glass and a self-guided or guided tour.
6. Follow GPS Address: 241 Grotto Avenue Pawtucket, RI 02860 and arrive at Foolproof Brewing Company, where they brew specifically for you and the many reasons you indulge in libations. At Foolproof they conceptualize their creations by anticipating when, where and why we are apt pick up a cold one and palette it! They came up with the concept of “experience-based brewing” which you can see by the names of their beers that they have us covered for every experience we may want an accompaniment for! From Backyahd (6% ABV) IPA and King of the Yahd (8.5% ABV) Imperial IPA two of our featured 10 local beers to ring in Spring! to Barstool (4.5% ABV) and American Golden Ale perfect for saddling up to the bar with your buddies and drinking to your hearts content, responsibly. 7. On your way from hither and yon you’re just down the road from GPS Address: 560 Mineral Spring Ave. Pawtucket, RI 02860 from Crooked Current Brewery. Join them Saturdays from 1-5pm for tours and samples. RI’s smallest brewery in the smallest state is dedicated to RI and its at times, crooked past! They know that to be “wicked good” sometimes there is a little adversity along the way! So head down and try their Kickback 7% ABV their American Wheat beer, which boasts a smooth, crisp and refreshing taste. Or treat your taste buds to their Immortality Ale 6.5% ABV featured as one of our 10 Local Beers to Ring in Spring. Crooked Current is home to RI’s only female Brew Master Nichole Pelletier who is dedicated to crafting only the best quality beer with local ingredients whenever possible! After some historical sightseeing put 545 Pawtucket Ave Pawtucket, RI in to your GPS on Fridays and Saturdays for tastings and tours and let the experts at Bucket Brewery school you on the fine art of brewing. You can take a tour on Saturday and see how this artisan brewery can make magic with malt (and many other ingredients, of course)!
