The Contemporary Theater in Wakefield, RI, has been striving to strengthen the theater community of South County since 2005. Although it may be a small theater, it is heavily invested in the surrounding community, and hosts weekly performances and classes.
One event that’s coming up is the 9th Annual 24-Hour Play Festival. Starting at midnight the day before, a collection of actors, screenwriters, and theater directors will, over a 24-hour period, think of a play idea, write the play, rehearse it, and, at 8:00 PM on January the 11th, perform it. If you want to see how much can really get done in a day, you might want to check it out. There will be six original plays, each lasting about fifteen minutes. Tickets are $12.

Also, every Friday night there is an improvised comedy performance by Micetro Improv at 9:30 PM. Tickets are only $5.
