Event Details

This is a 4-week, beginner blacksmithing class for adults (18+). Participants will meet for 3 hours, 5:30-8:30pm, every Wednesday evening in June (June 5, 12, 19, and 26). Students can expect to leave with a basic knowledge of rudimentary blacksmithing techniques, shop practices, tools, and safety. It is a great multi-day experience for those curious or those wanting to start a long relationship with fire and steel.

The course starts with an overview of the shop, tools, forge, and safety. Each day builds on the knowledge obtained from the previous week.
Day 1: Intro, drawing out a taper and the S.O.R concept, bending, and twisting. Project: S-Hook.
Day 2: Review, ribbon taper, fishtail scroll, shouldering, and punching. Project: Coat Hook.
Day 3: Review, punching, drifting, and fullering. Project: Church Key Bottle Opener.
Day 4: Review, pull it all together completing unfinished projects, remaking Day 1 through Day 3 projects or choosing one of the listed projects which encompass the skills introduced in the course. (Twist Bottle
