Obviously the branding campaign was quite a debacle as it has attracted quite a bit of national attention. - When creating a brand for an entire community, why not let them be involved in the process. #powerofsocialmedia
- The Power of Social Media can be used for support, not lashing. Had the campaign involved social media in a strategic way, the public response would’ve been obvious right away and this whole mess might have been avoided.
- Lastly, use the abundant local resources. RISD could have held a contest or the option to create the state logo could’ve been opened up to local artists…or even Rhode Island students. Google runs competitions that support and promote local artists of all ages, we can learn a lesson from the leaders!
