The Jane Pickens Theater has a long and rich history as a site of culture in Newport. Although originally built as an Episcopal church in the 1830s, the building was later refashioned into a theater. The theater is named after Jane Pickens Langley, a singer and Broadway star who lived in Newport for many years, until her death in 1992.

It is a five hundred seat theater: 308 on the ground floor, 192 up in the balcony.

Movie tickets are $10 for adults, and $7.50 for seniors and children twelve or younger.

There will be a book signing by local author Annie Sherman Luke, writer of Legendary Locals of Newport on Sunday, December 1st. On the 11th of December, the theater will be taking part in the Newport Film Festival, screening Blood Brother, the award winning documentary about H.I.V. in India.
