“We are starting this campaign to help raise money to carry on the Legacy of Looney Tunes II Record Store. All proceeds will go toward a down payment on the shop and any necessary updates to the business.
If you know Corey Taylor a.k.a DJ Blade mon you probably know he likes Volkswagens a lot and he absolutely loves music. Corey’s passion for music is not something he enjoys just for himself. His love of music is rooted in bringing it to the people.
Corey grew up in South County graduating from Narragansett High and New England Tech. He has been a DJ in some
capacity since he was a young kid, and as an adult has hosted one of the best Reggae shows on the airwaves on 90.3 WRIU (live and direct from Kingston, Rhode Island) for the last 15 years and has recently started a second show on UKVibes.net (Reggae Bus Radio). He enjoys bringing music to the airwaves for our listening pleasure so much that he volunteers his time for 3 hrs every Saturday morning 11-2pm and Monday nights from 9-11pm so we can tune in and have an Irie Reggae experience. Corey (DJ Blademon’s) Bladeconnex radio show is a full spectrum range of all Reggae music, roots to dancehall. He also blesses the stage at the World famous Ocean Mist every other Tuesday so we can get down on the dance floor. One reason that Corey and a lot of other people in this area and beyond have been exposed to so much great Reggae and all types of music is because of Mr. Peter Dante.
Peter is the uncontested and undeniable Ambassador of Reggae music to South County, the host of Reggae Showcase on 90.3 WRIU and the owner of the legendary Looney Tunes Music Store in Wakefield, Rhode Island. Peter and his shop full of musical treasures have been a huge influence on Corey and much of his extensive record collection wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for this local gem. Peter has decided that it is time for him to step away from the store and pass the torch to a worthy successor. The purpose of this GoFundMe campaign is to help Corey Taylor be that successor. He has given 1000’s of hours of himself to the people so we can enjoy music on the radio and in clubs and bars.
If you have been or frequently are someone who reaps the benefits of Corey’s lifelong passion then please consider gifting a donation to him, so he can carry on the legacy of this historic business. In a time where small independent businesses are threatened by the big box stores and online purchases, preserving a South County landmark like Looney Tunes is paramount to the culture of our community. Those who wish to see our small town filled with Mom and Pop and Small Independent businesses should consider donating to this fund. No donation is too small.
On behalf of Corey thank you and bless you all! Let’s pray WE can make this happen.”
