New Year’s Eve in Rhode Island

2013 is drawing to a close, and you have a big decision to make before the clock strikes midnight and 2014 is upon us: how are you going to spend New Year’s Eve in Rhode Island? If you’re planning on staying in, you don’t need to do much planning. If, on the other hand, you want to paint the town red, Rhode Island has plenty going on December 31^st.

Starting at 9:00 PM on New Year’s Eve, the doors of the Rhode Island Convention Center will open and the 4th Annual New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball will begin. The party won’t stop until 3:00 AM, and two thousand people are expected to attend. Tickets start at $60.

If you’re looking for something to do earlier in the day and you have an interest in the theater, the musical Wicked will be performing at the Providence Performing Arts Center. Showtimes on the 31^st are at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

If you’re the type of person that wants to really party their way into the New Year, check out the Roxy Providence, where you can join the Lights Out NYE Bash. The party starts at 10:00 PM and runs until 3:00 in the morning. This is a wild New Year’s Eve in Rhode Island!

Of course, adults aren’t the only ones that enjoy New Year’s Eve in Rhode Island, although it can be difficult to find children’s activities. If you’re looking for something to keep your small children occupied, check out the New Year’s event being held at the Providence Children’s Museum. There will be arts and crafts starting at 11:00 AM and going until 2:00 PM.

Most of the big events are taking place in the downtown Providence area. However, if you head to Newport, you can find some really interesting parties. At the Forty 1° North hotel on Thames Street, you can enjoy food and champagne in an upscale atmosphere.
