Newport Waterfront Events…Past, Present and Future!

The Reggae Rally was held on May 9th at Fort Adams State Park in honor and celebration of the prestigious Volvo Ocean Race.  This show, presented by Heineken, brought some of our favorite local acts to the stage.  Performers included, The Ravers, Mighty Mystic and John Brown’s Body.  Each band had the crowd moving and grooving while savoring a musical night filled with great tunes, great drinks and the one of a kind ambiance that the fort itself provides.  Fort Adams State Park lends itself to being the perfect concert and event venue.  Inside the fort you will find wide open space with meticulously maintained grass…all just begging to house concerts and festivals.  Lucky enough for us, Newport Waterfront Events has more upcoming happenings in this ideal location.  If you missed the Reggae Rally, make it your business to find your way to one of these two events.

Magenta Music Night will be held on Thursday May 14th and will feature the likes of  NBC’s “The Voice” finalists:  Rhode Island’s own Sarah Potenza, Anita Antoinette, as well as special guest Emma Joy Galvi.  This event is presented by SCA and gates open at 6 pm.  Tickets are $25.00 in advance and are $35.00 the day of the show.  These talented ladies are positioned to bring you a music experience like no other.  Have a look at what is in store for you:

The Great Chowder Cook-Off is another event that has been drawing crowds for 34 years and has now found a new fitting location…Fort Adams State Park!  This treasured event has stood the test of time and taste.  Consider this Chowder consuming event the perfect kick-off to  summer on June 6th from noon until 6 pm.  The Great Chowder Cook-Off has been featured on the Travel Channel as well as the Food Network, just to give you an example of the caliber of deliciousness that awaits you.  Come hungry as you will be able to sample dozens of creations from some of the best restaurants and chefs in New England!  From the traditional New England Clam Chowder to the exotic and creative twists,prepare to be impressed and satisfied…you can eat all the chowder your little heart desires.  Even more, you have the chance to vote for your favorite version!  There will be live music, drinks and even kid activities!  Bring the entire family and enjoy one of the best events Newport has to offer.
