No matter how hard we try, we can not stop the summer from leaving. However, the good news is…October brings plenty of fall fun our way. And with the arrival of Autumn comes the lively celebrations known as Oktoberfest! Here are the Okoberfests that you do not want to miss:
German American Cultural Society of Rhode Island will host their annual Oktoberfest on September 30th and October 1st from 12pm-5pm! Located at, 78 Carter Ave, Pawtucket, Rhode Island 02861…this Oktoberfest will boast authentic German food, beer, song and of course dance! The Bavarian Brothers will be playing along with the Alpenblumen Schuhplattlers & Misikanten! New this year is an outdoor Biergarten! Tickets are available in advance for $8 or $10 at the door. Wakefield Oktoberfest and Riverfire will take October 7th in downtown Wakefield from 12pm-11pm! Here are all the details from Facebook:
Come join us on Main Street for our 2nd annual Oktoberfest and River Festival…a day of live music, street performers, dancing, vendors & original art, kids games, RiverFire, and food & drink between noon and 11 PM on Saturday, Oct. 7th, in downtown Wakefield. Enjoy evening RiverFire, and loads of family friendly activities all day!
Come shop Main Street as well as over 100 artisans and vendors! Local music all day on Main Street on the lawn too! Come meet and greet the amazing NE Patriot;’s Pat Patriot, the Big Nazo characters, Rhody Ram, the NiRoPe characters, Disney Princesses, and more! If that’s not enough….how about hula hooping with Wakefield’s own Laura Kelly, performances by Providence’s The TropiGals, our own Ladies of the Rolling Pin, street magicians, and more!
The daytime and street events are FREE! Come visit us in our biergarten for authentic bratwurst & sauerkraut, apple strudel, apple cider, sausage & peppers, and more. The evening entertainment in the biergarten includes URI’s Big Jazz Band, Take it To the Bridge! A suggested donation of $5 gets you entrance to the biergarten and helps to offset Wakefield Village Association’s costs to host this community event!
The 25th Anniversary Oktoberfest will take place at Bold Point Park from 12pm-8pm on October 7th! This “annual reunion of friends enjoying the tastes, sights, and sounds of our little Bavaria in RI! The Biergartens feature dozens of seasonal, craft, domestic and imported brews, and savory German cuisine compliment the lively and spirited sounds of live entertainment.”

The Narragansett Oktoberfest will take place at Ogie’s Trailer Park and E&O Tap from 5pm-10pm on October 7th! It has been 3 years since Narragansett has released their FEST Lager, so this is a cause for celebration! There will be, plenty of beer, limited editions steins, German smoked meets from Great Northern BBQ Co., Wicked Twisted Pretzels and proper German Oom-Pah band The Hofbrau Spielers.
