Ponaganset High School’s Second Annual Clambake is an extraordinary class project where in students will discuss and analyze the history of the traditional clambake and explore why it is still part of New England folkways. The culminating event will occur when our students actually prepare and serve a traditional New England Clambake. Last year’s clambake was a huge success! This year’s bake promises to be even more spectacular given that all proceeds will be used to support the Moving Wall.
This project affords our students the opportunity to develop basic math, food preparation, public relations and communication skills by providing them the chance to practice the 21st Century skill of collaboration in a meaningful, interesting context. The objective is based upon the fact that students learn best when they are truly engaged in what they are learning, when they have the opportunity to explore, debate, discuss, examine, defend, and experiment with the concepts and skills they are ready to learn.
