Providence Toddler and Preschool Activity Guide!

Summer is just around the corner. Before you’ll be digging sand out of everything your child owns, why not partake in some of the best activities Providence has to offer? Preschoolers and toddlers in Providence area and beyond have access to mainstay classes like gymnastics and tee ball, but there are also unique offerings that can’t be found anywhere else. Here we’ve pulled together specialty and weekly experiences, along with free and affordable options.

Chace Children’s Discovery Library

At this local favorite, there are dozens of story times to fit your child’s needs and your schedule. Cradle to Crayons, for 1-3 year olds, focuses on play and socialization. You and your little one will hear stories, sing songs, and move around. Prepare for K through Play ramps up school readiness for kids ages 4-5.

Hasbro’s FunLab

We wouldn’t ordinarily recommend that you make your kids tests subject, but we’ve heard great things about Hasbro’s FunLab. Sign up on their website and you and your child will be invited to come down and play with age appropriate toys. The free experience is always well organized and a lot of fun. Plus, your kiddo might just get to take something home!

Ocean State School of Gymnastics Center

If you’ve got a fiery, independent little one, you’ll be so happy when they hit 3. For the Preschool Program, parents are no longer needed to participate in gymnastics and your child can go it alone. They get access to balance beams, vaults, trampolines, and the tumble track with guided instruction.

Roger Williams Park Zoo

You can take your child to the zoo during any open hours and have a fantastic time. Or you can join in on some of their amazing kid-centric programming for an extra special day. Preschool Adventures focus on a special animal or area of the zoo and include a lesson, activities, and craft. Bonus: animal encounters!

East Side Music Together

At East Side Music Together, the belief is that all children are musical. Parents only need to nurture that ability so it continues to grow. Their Mixed Age classes are for newborns up to age 5 and incorporate rhythm, movement, songs, and instruments.

Festival Ballet Providence

This dance school trains tiny tots and prima ballerinas alike. Classes like Dance with Me, Rhythm and Movement, and Creative Movement will provide lots of cute photo ops. More importantly, your child will have better confidence and coordination

Fairlawn Little League Tee Ball

Who doesn’t get a kick out of 4 year olds playing tee ball? Pawtucket’s Fairlawn Little League is a great way for your child to get started with sports, which help build the capacity for dedication and team work. No score is kept for Tee Ball, so all children can practice stress free.

Providence Children’s Museum

This museum is filled with activities for kids of all ages.  However, there are areas dedicated to the toddler and pre-school ages.  There is an indoor park with a library, a water exploration area, an outdoor play area, active and exploratory exhibits and much more!  Here are a few exhibits to look forward to:

SkyZone Trampoline Park

This trampoline park has a toddler court that is age appropriate and sure to help any active toddler or preschooler expend some energy.  In the winter season, you can also head to SkyZone Trampoline Park for toddler time.

RISD Museum

RISD Museum is the perfect place to take your creative child.  Programs include, Tours for Tots, How to be a Museum Explorer, Family See and Sketch, Open Studio, Drawing Outside the Lines and more!  This museum is located in Providence and offers free entrance for kids under 5.  Admission is also free every Sunday (10 am–5 pm) and on the third Thursday evening of each month (5–9 pm).  The RISD Museum a member of the  Blue Star Museum which offers free admission to active-duty U.S. military personnel and their families.
