If you’ve ever had to pick a wedding venue, you know that you can’t just pick a place out of a phone book, mail in a check, and be all set. There are a lot of variables to consider, from weather to parking to maximum capacity. And that means online research, phone calls, and more than one visit to more than one venue. But before you can start any of that, you need to figure out what your options are. Luckily, Rhode Island has plenty to offer.
It should be no surprise that the Providence area has many beautiful, historic wedding venues. If you’re set on a wedding in the capital, you have quite a few options to choose from. You could pick one of Providence’s fine hotels, like Omni or the Biltmore. Or, for something a bit off the beaten path, you could hold your ceremony in the Providence Public Library on Empire Street, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.
South County also has its share of beautiful venues, many of which are seaside. A fantastic choice of venue is the Towers in Narragansett, just next to the sea wall. As locals will know, the Towers are the only part of the Narragansett Casino that survived the great fire at the beginning of the 20th century. The building itself is historic, beautiful, and an iconic feature of South County. The Towers play host to private events in the arch, including weddings.
If you want your ceremony to take place on the beach, and the reception by the sea, Narragansett is a perfect spot. Galilee Beach Club, located right on Narragansett Beach, hosts seaside weddings, complete with catering.
If you want something truly peaceful, you should check out some of Rhode Island’s more secluded venues, like the Whispering Pines country estate in West Greenwich, where you can enjoy your special day surrounded by nature and the estate’s brook.
Picking a venue can be a huge decision, but if you take a look at even a fraction of the amazing venues in the state, you’re bound to find something that strikes you as just right.  Once you have decided on your venue, now is the time for more choices.  As far as choosing a photographer who is well versed in the beauty of Rhode Island, we can help.  Maria Burton Photography is now booking weddings for the upcoming season.
