It’s time to talk about the new kid on the block.  If you haven’t tried the Salt Water Tavern on Main Street in Wakefield, then it’s time you did.  On a busy night, like the Saturday of Valentine’s Day weekend, it might be hard to impress.  But not true for Salt Water Tavern.  Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly and helpful wait-staff who directed us to the perfect booth along the outside wall….private yet in the middle of the whole experience.  The wine list and draft or craft beer choices were extensive and included some local brews from Grey Sail Brewing Company and Revival Brewing Company.

On this particular evening, diners could choose a prix-fixe menu or order from the regular menu.  We chose to order from the regular menu which only tells us that the choices are always superb.  The clam chowder, including a clam fritter plopped right in the middle of a creamy soup, was delicious, but even more impressive was the sautéed Brussel sprouts.  Salt Water Tavern has many seafood choices for those who seek the salt water’s bounties.  But, don’t think they haven’t thought about the carnivores and  the vegetarians or even those who love a bit of heat south of the border.  Have a peek at this menu:

Salt Water Tavern is one of the new hot spots in town….be sure to go as soon as time allows.  For a more casual atmosphere and to feel right in the middle of the action, be sure to find a booth or high top on the first level.  For a more intimate setting, the upstairs room is warm and inviting with both booths and dining tables to suit your wishes.  The walls are painted in a serene ocean color and decorated with ships at sea paintings.  The calm and beauty of the salt water sea is what the diners are feeling.  The food and drink will speak for themselves.  Be sure to take some time to visit the new kid on the block….you won’t be disappointed.  Learn more here!
