South County Balloon Festival

One of the best summer events in South County, and definitely in the running for most spectacular, is the South County Balloon Festival. There will be many professional teams flying this year, launching from several different spots in the area. The balloons usually launch at 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

If you want to go up in one of the balloons, there are a couple of options. There will be tethered balloon rides—depending on the weather and wind, of course—at 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday the 18th; 6:30 AM on Saturday the 19th.  Tethered balloon rides are only $15.

Taking an untethered balloon ride is more expensive, and there will be limited spots.

If you’re not interested in the balloons, the Balloon Festival has a lot more to offer.
