Here’s a look at just a few of the activities you can take part in and places you can visit while in Rhode Island.
Being located in southern New England, Rhode Island has hot summers and cold winters. While you’ll need to bundle up come wintertime, the summertime is all about the outdoors. And for that, you should check out one of Rhode Island’s fantastic beaches. NarragansettTownBeach (http://www.narragansettri.gov/index.aspx?NID=323) has consistently been considered one of—if not the—best beach in the state, and for good reason. It boasts a sandy shoreline and mild waves that have been bringing in the surfers for decades.

Or, stop in at one of the many beaches on Newport. While most of them are not as large as Narragansett Town Beach, they are much more numerous. If you’re not one for the beach, however, Rhode Island still has plenty of great outdoor activities. Rhode Island has its fair share of parks and hiking trails to explore. On a clear, windy summer day, you can catch scores of kites soaring about the broad grass fields of Brenton Point. Sit on the nearby rocky shore and watch the ocean, or go hiking through the maze of paths that sit out in the woods. You’ll even find a few old stone buildings out there, covered in years of growth.
Or, you could stop by Roger Williams Park in Providence (https://www.providenceri.com/parks-and-rec/roger-williams-park). The area may be better known for the Roger Williams Park Zoo, which sits inside the park itself. While the zoo is a great stop for old and young alike, the park itself is large and peaceful, with beautiful architecture, a number of ponds and lakes, and a view that can’t be beat.
