Three day weekends are the perfect reason for a little additional fun. Many fairs and festivals choose this weekend since the season is beautiful and many people have a three day weekend. Whether you are visiting for the long weekend or you are a local resident, here is a list of 10 ways to enjoy this long weekend!
- Scituate Arts Festival- This highly acclaimed street festival boasts over 300 exhibitors, live music, food vendors and so much more. The festival takes place the entire weekend so be sure to weave this into your plans!
- Eureeka Challenge– This urban scavenger hunt will have you pondering your way around the city as you unlick riddles, clues, puzzles and much more! This event also takes place all 3 days, so plan ahead.
- Columbus Day Festival– Delicious food and great music are the backbone of this great festival on Attwells Ave. This three day festival attracts people from all over southern New England and beyond. Come enjoy the flavors and sounds of Federal Hill.
- Columbus Day Parade– This Columbus Day Parade steps off at noon and will lead the parade to the Columbus Monument at Memorial Blvd and Bellevue Ave. The event is followed by a lunch at Sardella’s Restaurant for a fee.
- Pronk!– This joyous celebration takes place on Wickenden Street in Providence on the 12th at noon. People from all walks and meanders of life are invited to join in this exuberant celebration of music and public space.
- Take a Hike– Rhode Island is beautiful year round, but its plethora of immaculate trees make fall one of its specialties. Take a hike around Rhode Island and let the foliage be the backdrop for your perfect day! If you prefer to pedal, check out a local bike path.
- Get Scared– Columbus Day Weekend also falls right in the middle of what we call, “Scare Season”. The time between the onset of October and Halloween. If you are looking to get spooked, there are plenty of places here in Rhode Island!
- Visit a Farmers Market for Seasonal Goods– Rhode Island is home to a host of incredible local farmers, artisans, fisherman and purveyors. There is only a few more weekends of outdoor markets and you are sure to find one near you!
- Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular– This event does continue until November 1st. However, if you are visiting for the long weekend, this is a must do!
