October 3rd-October 5th…So Much Fun to be Had!

Rhode Island shines in October. Here are just a few of the events taking place on the first weekend of the month, from Friday, October 3rd to Sunday the 5th.

At the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, the Providence Bruins will be holding their Fanfest, along with playing a pre-season game against the Springfield Falcons. The festivities begin at 7:05 PM. You can learn more athttp://www.providencebruins.com/events/detail/p….

On Saturday, you can spend mid-day at the 11th Annual Carnivorous Plant Show at Roger Williams Park. As the name implies, you’ll be able to see an array of meat-eating plants. With more than three hundred carnivorous plants, Venus Fly Traps are just the beginning. Entrance is only $3 for adults, $1 for kids 6-12, and free for children five and under. On Sunday the 5th, the Color Run will take place in Providence, beginning and ending at Station Park, across from the capitol building. The race ends with the Finish Festival at Station Park, which will feature live music. While the Color Run is a lot of fun, as you can tell from the picture, you will get rather messy, so don’t wear anything you don’t mind washing. On Saturday the 4th, the Annual Duck Race and Family Fun Day will be held in West Warwick. This event will feature live music, food, crafts and games, pumpkin painting, and, of course, a river race between five thousand rubber ducks. Finally, the 2014 Food and Travel Expo will be held in Providence. Each day, attendees will sample cuisine from Peru to New Zealand. This event is held on Saturday the 4th, at the Providence Biltmore. Learn more here.
