October 11th and 12th, at the Newport Yacht Club.  This will also be the last event if this type at this iconic venue.  As many of you may know, it has sold and will not be home to festivals and concerts anymore.  That being said, be sure to attend and savor the last chance to enjoy this great location.

The festivities begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday with the traditional tapping of the first keg. From there, you have an endless selection of beers to drink. There are ciders from Angry Orchard and Harpoon, lagers from Sam Adams and Magic Hat, and everything in between. Other breweries like Blue Moon, Newport Storm, Shipyard, Leinenkugel, and Newcastle will also be well-represented.

On Saturday, the Samuel Adams brewery will be running a stein hoisting contest. While holding up a mug of beer may seem easy, it gets a lot less easy as the seconds tick by. The contestants that can keep their stein aloft for the longest are eligible for a trip to Germany in 2015.

There will also be a selection of authentic Bavarian food, including schnitzel, baked pretzels, and more. If you’re looking for something to soak up the alcohol, they most certainly have you covered.

While not all of the performers have been announced, the German-American rock band Spitze! will be performing, along with Die Schlauberger.

Oktoberfest will take place on Saturday and Sunday, and each day will have a different atmosphere. Saturday will be the more of a beer-fest, great for adults that like drinking good beer, watching good music, and eating good food. Sunday should be less crowded, and is this better-suited to a visit with children in tow.

Saturday tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, while Sunday is $17 in advance and $20 at the door. Kids under 11 are allowed in free on Sunday with an adult ticket holder.
