Newport Blues Café

Newport has always been home to good scenery, great food, and fantastic music. If you want all three, then swing into the Newport Blues Café.

The building itself was built in the late 19th century, and used to be the Newport National Bank. Parts of the old bank have been left unaltered; the six ton vault door still sits on its hinges. The classic surroundings really lend themselves to the restaurant’s atmosphere.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the Newport Blues Café has live music. On Friday the 28th, for instance, the Felix Brown six-piece will be performing at 10:00 PM for a 21-plus show.

If you’re looking for something a bit more substantial than a cocktail, the café has a great selection of food. Try one of their appetizers like golden calamari or chicken tenders. Or if you’d like a full meal, try their salmon with sweet potato fries, or their garlic steak.

The Newport Blues Café is located at 286 Thames Street in Newport. They are closed on Mondays. To learn more about the restaurant, including upcoming performers, visit their website.
