Beer and Wine at Farmers Markets in RI
There is a great article in this months issue of Motif Magazine by Pete Larrivee regarding the ins and outs of offering beer and wine at farmers markets in RI. The long and short of it is that Representative Jared Nunez introduced a bill that would make it legal for beer and wine to be sold at these markets. He explains that this would be in fact a positive economic boost for small scale brewers however there are still some areas of concern for those involved.
Beer and Wine at Farmers Markets in RI…
- Um…obviously who wouldn’t want to be able to purchase locally produced wine and beer
- Growing the market for local small breweries
- Building opportunities for nano-breweries within the community
- Expose the local community to great beer and wine
- However there are also some areas of concern…
Pete Larrivee suggests that talking to your local representative might help him or her get involved and help to “iron out the wrinkles.” The local markets already offer such fresh produce, splendid baked goods, and local meats and seafood that it seems only natural that beer and wine would be also offered. In my humble opinion…I agree that we should all contact the local representatives and make a push towards making this successful for all. I also suggest picking up a copy of Motif Magazine and reading this informative article for yourself. Take your stand on how you feel about beer and wine at farmers markets in RI.
