Friday, May 18 is Bike to Work Day, and if you are looking to get fit, de-stress or save money on summer gas prices, there are several events happening across the state for you to join in on the fun.
Mentioned in an earlier blog, LIFEcycle is a local non-profit that awards grants to hospitals in support of cancer treatment and research, here in Rhode Island. Their premier annual fundraising event is a bike-a-thon called Ride ‘Round Rhody, celebrating its10th year this July. LIFEcyle will be participating at a few different locations Friday.
Join them and post a photo of your bike ride to work on the @LIFEcycle Facebook page or tag @rideroundrhody on Instagram to be entered to WIN a free Ride ‘Round Rhody 2018 Fundraising Rider* registration and riding jersey.
Representatives from LIFEcycle will be at Burnside Park in Providence from 7 to 9 a.m. and Railroad Street in Wakefieldfrom 7 to 8:30 a.m., Friday morning to participate in one of spring’s most popular events.
Replacing your morning commute with a bike not only helps you go green, but studies show it also can reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease by 14 percent.
Can’t bike to work Friday? There’s still time to register and join LIFEcycle at Ride ‘Round Rhody July 29!
