Biomes in North Kingstown is a locally owned Marine Biology center that specializes in offering hands-on educational experiences to children and adults.   This is Rhode Island’s one and only privately owned marine education facility.  Owner, Mark Hall, has been educating the public about the marine animals of Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic ocean since 1989.  This is the perfect place for family fun coupled with an interactive educational experience.  Mark is not only a wealth of knowledge but also a passionate pioneer of Marine Biology education.  Have a look at this incredible NOVA special about the intelligence of the elusive octopus.

If you are looking for a day out of the house like no other, head on over to Biomes.  You can pet a shark, touch a skate, admire a boa, linger at the sea horse tank, marvel at an octopus and say hello to Darwin the tortoise.  That is only a mere smattering of the creatures you will be introduced to.  Not only is Biomes a blast and educational…believe it or not, it will not break your wallet.  Kids under 3 are free, everyone else is only nine dollars!  Support this local gem and learn about your local marine life while doing so, you will not be disappointed.
