Extraordinary Child Organization

Every child is different, and they all have different needs. The Extraordinary Child Organization, a non-profit organization based out of Smithfield and serving all of Rhode Island, aims to create a safe place for all children, regardless of any special needs the child may have.

The Extraordinary Child Organization has what they call a “No Apologies” policy, which means that they “reject the idea that a parent or person with disabilities should feel the need to constantly…apologize for being who they are.” While the Extraordinary Child facility is by no means solely for persons with disabilities, they make a concentrated effort to help children that face physical, emotional, social, or other challenges. Both the facility and the events were designed specifically to help those with special needs.

Extraordinary Child has numerous social groups for children of different ages and with different needs, including a social hour for the newly-diagnosed. They have several play groups. There are both persons with disabilities play groups, as well as open playgroups for any children in the appropriate age range. Also, the organization is planning on putting together classes and parents groups in the future.

The Extraordinary Child facility in Smithfield is also available for rental, in case you are looking for a party venue that is well-equipped to handle individuals with a variety needs.

In addition to their usual services, Extraordinary Child hosts various events throughout the year.
