Community Musicworks

If you’ve walked through downtown Providence on a Friday or a Saturday night, you know that it is a city of music, from the rock clubs to the street musicians. Founded in 1997, the non-profit Community Musicworks, located on Westminster Street in Providence, seeks to enrich the local population by offering music lessons, access to live classical music, and more.

Community Musicworks offers weekly lessons, both private and group, in the violin, the viola, and the cello. For those without access to these (generally expensive) musical instruments, Community Musicworks offers instruments that students can keep for the entirety of the school year. They also offer free tickets and transportation to concerts for the entire family, access to a media lab, and more.

Coming up on Saturday the 22nd of February, Community Musicworks will be hosting a concert at the RISD Museum’s Grand Gallery at 224 Benefit Street. The concert will feature a string quartet performing music by eminent composers Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, and Stravinsky.
