Fireworks in Rhode Island
There’s no better summer holiday than the Fourth of July, and there’s no greater Fourth of July tradition than fireworks in Rhode Island. Here’s a list of some of the spots in southern Rhode Island that will be holding a fireworks display on Independence Day 2014.
At 9:00 PM on the 4th of July, there will be fireworks at Narragansett Town Beach. The festivities start around noon, with face-painting, sandcastle building and live jazz music by local band Brass Attack. The fireworks themselves will be shot off at sundown, around 9:00 PM. The festivities will be held at 39 Boston Neck Road. Although the parking lot is sure to fill up quick, you can always find parking down the seawall. Still, the 4th of July is particularly busy in Narragansett, so you may want to secure parking ahead of time.
In Newport, you can check out the fireworks launched from Fort Adams. If you can get out on Newport Harbor, you can catch a really amazing view, but if you lack a boat, there are plenty of great places to watch at Fort Adams park and nearby King’s Park. Fireworks start at 9:00 PM, with parking available at the Fort Adams visitor’s center.
Fireworks in Rhode Island
In Wakefield, the best place to see the fireworks is Old Mountain Field, located on Kingston street right across from Old Mountain Lanes bowling. Although the fireworks start at 9:00, you’ll want to show up early if you want to be able to find a spot on the ground. There’s no easy parking in the area—or at least none that won’t get grabbed by early birds—so unless you plan on arriving mid-day, expect to do some walking.
And finally, on Block Island, on July 3rd, there will be a free concert, along with fireworks. The event will take place at Crescent Beach. The music starts at 7:00; the fireworks start at 9:00. Stay tunes for Fireworks in Rhode Island…the northern part.
