Local Breweries in RI

Local breweries have a long history in Rhode Island, and they are coming back with  force. What used to be niche labels are now mainstays at everything from bartops to backyard barbecues. Check out some of these great local breweries.

Narragansett Brewery is perhaps the most famous local beer brand in Rhode Island, and was named the 49^th best brewery in the United States in 2013 by the Brewer’s Association. While many of their beers—including their ubiquitous lager—are actually brewed in New York State, their bocks and porters are made in Rhode Island. Try one of their seasonal beers, such as their summer ale, brewed in Providence, available this May. Or, you could try out an old standard like their lager.
There’s also Bucket Brewery out of Pawtucket. They’re the new kid on the block, with their current brewery having opened less than a year ago, in the summer of 2013. However, they are off to an impressive start. For something rich and unique, try out their maple stout, or have a glass of their Pawtucket Pail Ale, a mild and strong beer that is sure to sate your thirst.

Another great Rhode Island brewery is Revival Brewing. If you don’t recognize them by their eye-catching labels, you’re certain to remember the taste of their double black IPA or their Irish stout, which is surprisingly mild. Revival Brewing has taps installed all over the state, from Narragansett Grille to AS220, making it easy to get a hold of a pint.

Of course, no list of Rhode Island breweries would be complete without the Trinity Brewhouse in downtown Providence. If you want a fresh glass of high-quality beer, this is the place to go. Expertly brewed from the water of the Scituate Reservoir, Trinity Brewhouse offers an appealing selection of drinks. At the moment, they have on tap a few stouts, a few ales, a chocolate weizenbock, and more.
