Mother’s Day Brunch

Mother’s Day is coming up, and restaurants throughout the state are hosting special brunch meals for the day. If you’d like to treat your mom to a nice, late breakfast out, check out one of these restaurants. But if you are planning on going, be sure to make reservations ahead of time.

For a start, there’s the Matunuck Oyster Bar, a lakefront seafood restaurant with some of the freshest seafood in the state. The food is freshly-caught nearby, and has a view that can’t be beat, especially on a cool, sunny Sunday morning.

The Mariner Grille in Narragansett not only has a great selection of freshly-caught seafood, pork, chicken, pasta and more, they also host an excellent selection of wine and champagne, as well as a kid’s menu in case you’re bringing children with you to brunch.

Boat House Waterfront Dining, located at 227 Schooner Drive in Tiverton, offers waterfront dining and a satisfying brunch of fresh fruit, fresh seafood, and more. If the weather is nice enough, try to get a seat out on the patio.

If you’re not in the mood for seafood, check out Rasa in East Greenwich. This Indian restaurant is run by the same local restaurateur that runs the Kabob and Curry on Thayer Street and Rasoi in Pawtucket, and has an excellent selection of Indian foods that make for a great lunch. In addition, Rasa offers a variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options.

If you’re looking to sate a healthy appetite, you may want to consider the Rathskeller in Charlestown. The restaurant is nestled away in the woods, the Rathskeller is a perfect spot to spend Mother’s Day morning and afternoon if you don’t want to deal with traffic and city parking.

The Fifth Element, on Broadway in Newport, serves high quality American cuisine at a mid-range price, and offers free champagne for mothers during brunch. There will also be live music until 3:00 PM.

Fleming’s Steakhouse will have a special three-course Mother’s Day brunch from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Fleming’s offers luxury cuisine, including bakes brioche and prime rib. Their normal dinner menu will also be available.

Seasons at the Ocean House, in Westerly, is another restaurant serving contemporary American cuisine. They will be hosting a special Mother’s Day five-course meal designed to celebrate the finest of New England cuisine.
