Being a mother, this story went straight to my heart. Lauren Scott Rankins is a mother of three young children. They are seeking to find a rental to make lasting memories…please read the most recent update from crowdrise.com below:
“It has been quite some time since the last update and we want to again express immense gratitude to all those who have supported Lauren in so many ways. Through the outpouring of support since
learning of her diagnosis Lauren has been able to continue treatment in Boston and be reunited with her kids in Rhode
Island since late March. Over the past 5 months Lauren has embraced her time with her kids despite being in and out of hospitals, a few steps forward then a few back. Her strength and grace through this horrific battle are a testament to a mother’s love and determination. As symptoms have continued to increase, in early June she started a new chemo regimen. On June 12th Lauren turned 38 and she enjoyed a wonderful birthday surprise. She was so touched and thankful to all her family, friends and loved ones for such a special celebration. Unfortunately, just 24 hours later she was back in the hospital only to have her team of doctors
confirm her worst fears…the chemo regimen was too toxic for her body and was not working and they are out of viable long term options. Faced with only hospice or an experimental new chemo (not as toxic but only having a 10% success rate for being beneficial) with the goal of giving her a few more months, she began the treatment last Thursday. These surreal facts have Laurencoming to face, “this might be the last push but always praying and fighting as hard as I can to beat this!”
Therefore, Lauren and her husband Jared and their 3 beautiful children, Harper (5), Maxwell (3) and Calder (11 months) are currently looking for a summer rental in Rhode Island to be together as a family and “enjoy our summer together the best we can with what time we have.” They have started making their list of fun things to do and places to go with family and friends for the summer. Please help in any way you can to support them in their efforts to create memories to last a lifetime. We greatly appreciate your help to share their story and keep the continued thoughts, prayers, love and contributions coming during this unfathomable time.”
