In 1977, some of the first Penguin Plungers dove into the chilly waters off the coast of Jamestown to celebrate the coming of the new year. Proceeds from this fundraiser went to a great cause – the Rhode Island Special Olympics. Forty-two years later, the Penguin Plunge has become one of the largest and oldest fundraisers in the state and has raised over $3.5 million. Go to specialolympics.org to download your pledge sheet today and we will see you at Roger Wheeler State Beach on January 1st!
