The food truck is a classic of the American urban landscape, and Providence is no exception.

For starters, Hewtin’s Dogs Mobile. This truck, which drives for the restaurant Chez Pascal on Hope Street, serves up a selection of delicious, expertly-prepared and lavishly-topped hot dogs, wursts, and more.

If you’re looking for something sweet this summer, and you’re not looking for the usual ice cream truck fare, check out Like No Udder, the dairy-free ice cream truck. They have soft serve ice cream, candy bars, slushies, and more. Their dairy free milkshakes are to die for, and you can often find them outside of the local farmer’s markets.

Of course, you can’t talk about Rhode Island food trucks without talking about Haven Brothers. If you’ve walked by KennedyPlaza at night, you’ve seen the tall, silver Haven Brothers truck. The current Haven Brothers truck is not the first one; the first one was horse-drawn, and made its debut in 1888. Haven Brothers also has the unique distinction of being a food truck that you can actually walk in to. They serve a lot of tasty—albeit not particularly healthy—foods that are perfect when you’re out on the town late at night, from hot dogs and hamburgers to sandwiches and tenderloin.

Speaking of American classics, check out the Championship Melt truck, which serves up a variety of hot grilled cheese sandwiches, including a number of vegan and gluten-free sandwich options.

There’s also Poco Loco Tacos. This big yellow truck is full of popular Mexican food: tacos, burritos, quesadilla, and more. Have some of their dirty rice or, if you’re looking for something a bit richer, try their sheet pan nachos, or their chorizo and queso dip.
