Turtle Soup…An Oceanside Dining Experience

Turtle Soup in Narragansett bills itself as “Eclectic American Cuisine,” and for good reason. They offer a wide variety of classic American dinner fare, as well as a number of French and Mediterranean dishes. Here’s a brief look at Turtle Soup.

The appetizers at Turtle Soup are a combination of local seafood, Italian classics, and the generally delicious, such as their sweet pork and spiced apple dumplings, served with soy sauce and sweet chili sauces. Or try their Mussels Zuppa, caught off the Canadian coast. Their bruschetta is particularly good, made  goat cheese, topped with rosemary tomatoes and Kalamata olives, and brushed with a balsamic reduction.

For your main course, you’re spoiled for choice. You could have their 14 ounce rack of lamb, rubbed with rosemary and served with Portobello mushrooms and a bourbon demi-glace, or their twenty ounce porterhouse steak. If you’ve never had duck, you should try their Long Island half duck, seared and finished with sweet and spicy sauce.

Their pasta dishes are also a treat, and include lobster ravioli, topped with a pink vodka sauce, served with spinach and blue claw crab meat. Or you could try their capellini and shellfish, a filling dish consisting of jumbo shrimp, little neck clams, and scallops served over angel hair pasta.

Turtle Soup’s seafood selection isn’t to be overlooked. Try their eight ounce Ahi steak, served with a pickled ginger orzo salad. Or you could try their grilled Atlantic salmon, finished with a balsamic raspberry glaze and toasted walnuts. Their sole meuniere also deserves a second look, a ten ounce sautéed sole fillet served with capers and fresh herbs.
