The holidays are over, and the real winter has begun. While your first instinct may be to barricade yourself inside with
firewood and blankets, there’s actually quite a bit happening around the state this weekend. Here’s a brief look at what’s happening in Rhode Island from Friday, January 9th through Sunday, January 11th.
If you’re trying to keep the kids out of the cold, check out the Providence Children”s Museum, one of Rhode Island’s best children’s destinations, is hosting events all weekend. On Friday, from 10:00 AM to noon, Toddler Try-It will be held, a hands-on event for toddlers from 18 months to three years. And, on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, this interactive family comedy will teach kids about the important of recycling and protecting the environment. The show lasts twenty minutes. If you’re looking for some sports, the Dunkin’ Donuts has games scheduled all weekend. On Friday, the Providence Bruins will be facing off against the Springfield Falcons at 7:05, with tickets starting at $16.25. On Saturday at noon, the PC Friars will be playing Georgetown, with tickets starting at $13. And on Sunday, the P. Bruins will be playing the Portland Pirates at 3:05 PM. Tickets start at $16.25. And on Saturday, the Contemporary Theater Company in Wakefield will be holding their annual twenty-four hour play festival, where six writers, six directors, and twenty-four actors have a full day to plan, write, rehearse and perform a fifteen minute play.
