With the blizzard behind us, it’s time to start heading out again. There’s a number of great events—mostly indoors—taking place over the course of this upcoming weekend, from Friday, February 13th to Sunday, February 15th.
Friday is the last day of the “Picturing Providence” exhibit at City Hall. You can learn more at www.artsnowri.com/event/detail/441891680/Picturing_Providence.
Also on Friday, folk duo The Indigo Girls will be performing with the Rhode Island Philharmonic at the Providence Performing Arts Center. Tickets start at $45. Learn more at www.ppacri.org.
And at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center, the Providence Bruins will be playing the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, and the Manchester Monarchs on Sunday. And on Saturday, the Friars will be playing Setton Hall. Hockey tickets start at $16.25, and basketball tickets start at $6.
Also on Friday, rock band Foreigner will be performing at Twin River Casino’s Event Center, starting at 8:00 PM. Tickets start at $35. Learn more, or purchase tickets, at www.twinriver.com.
Newport’s Winter Festival is holding a number of great, family-friendly events over the weekend. From 9:30 to 2:30 on Friday, for example, come down to Destination: Chocolate at Bowen’s Wharf to make your own marshmellow snowman. Or, if you’re looking for an adult outing, go to the Newport Vineyards Wine Tasting, at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Click here for more.
On Saturday, take a scenic train ride along the Newporty Railroad in a seventy-minute tour of scenic Newport. Or, for the kids, stop by at the Newport Visitor Center on America’s Cup Avenue to watch Ice Age and have some snow cones, all free of charge.
