Burnside Park Music Series

The summer heat is just about to break, and that makes this the perfect time to get out there and enjoy what summer we have left. Every Thursday, through September 4th, there will be a live music show on Thursday nights at Burnside park in Providence.

On July 31st, Debo Band will be playing. Debo Band, fronted by Ethiopian-born Danny Mekounen, is an 11-piece eclectic band that merges several different musical styles, from funk to African pop.

On August 7th, Rhode Island folk band Death Vessel will be performing. Death Vessel plays calm, yet occasionally intense—acoustic music

On August 14th, Providence’s own What Cheer? Brigade will be performing. What Cheer? are always crowd-pleasers. They’re an 18 piece brass marching band that is sure to delight young and old alike.

On August 21st, experimental electronic band Home Body will be playing.

On August 28th, Colombian electronica group M.A.K.U. SoundSystem will be playing.

And finally, on September 4th, there will be the the WBRU Presents night.

Several of Providence’s many food trucks will also be on hand, and Burnside Park is within easy walking distance of all of downtown Providence’s many amenities and attractions.

All of the shows take place at Burnside Park, the park right next to the Kennedy Plaza bus terminal. Every show is free and open to the public, including minors.
